– Imagine if ‘god’ didn’t exist (like atheists believe)… we would think that buildings didn’t need a architect or builder (or materials!), that artwork didn’t need an artist and that cars and planes appeared out of nothing. But we don’t.
– Imagine if God was impersonal and unknowable (as Hinduism teaches)… we would not have an inner desire to know others or be known by them. But we do.
-Imagine if God was singular (like Islam teaches)… we would all desire solitary confinement, but it remains one of humans’ worst tortures – a sure way to go mad.
– Imagine if God was just one of many who were once human (like Mormonism teaches)… we would all be able to live near – perfect, sinless lives. But we can’t.
– Imagine if God was revealed in Jesus Christ (as Christians teach)… we would have a visible image of the invisible God: someOne who not ‘only’ knows the human condition (pain, suffering and temptation) but One who also *knows* us (me and you), individually and intimately.
Of course He showed us how to live (defeated death, rising to life again) too…
This God creates people, giving them life & value, the ability to appreciate beauty in art, music, nature and an ability to connect with Him and others. They are fallen – they gravitate towards ‘bad’ without conscious effort – but they have some qualities that separate them clearly from the animals.
We may not want God to be real, we may reject His idea of what is right & wrong (sin), we may *hate* the idea that He will judge us & send us to hell, we may try to ignore His attempts to reach us – but the fact remains: He is who He is and He has revealed Himself to us.
Oh, and the *last* thing He wants to do is send you to hell…that’s why He sent Jesus!
We broke God’s law, the result is death & hell, but Jesus paid the fine!
If you’ve sinned (even once), you need Jesus…
The good thing is, once you trust Him, He proves to you He is real – you *know* it. You become a new, different person – the very best version of yourself – the one He created you to be!
You will love more, forgive more, hope more, serve more, endure more, with more joy and peace.
My life is unrecognisable nice that day – I pray you experience the same.
