I had this sticker on my car, and in the bar. I loved Jack Daniels whiskey – like *loved* it, but didn’t know…
Jack was actually dead. One day he forgot the combo to his safe… (funny that!) he got angry, kicked the safe & died from gangrene! Seriously! Jack is not alive he is dead…and you will be too one day. If you keep drinking Jacks it will likely be sooner than you expect.
Maybe you’re like me & don’t care that memory loss, anger & death will result. Maybe you think that it doesn’t affect you or your relationships – but those around you know different!
You know how it is: you look forward to drinking, you want to, but over time you need more & more to have the same fun. Before you know it, you’re drinking more than you want to, at times more than you can afford…and you can’t stop. You’re trapped, a slave.
Everyone is a slave to something… whether drink or drugs or scripts, for some it’s girls or porn or gambling or even ripping people off, but we all are trapped by something.
Do you hate the fact that you have to drink so much and can’t stop? Don’t you hate being a slave?
I got to the point where I did – but it was futile. Every time I tried to quit, I failed. Or I simply changed substances / activities. None of it worked. For me this led to me wanting to be dead. My body was stuffed, relationships continually failed, constant pain, trouble with the law…what was the point?
I decided to end my life and I set off on a trip to do that, but something *very* strange happened…
I talked to ‘god’ even though I didn’t believe ‘he’ existed. I read a book I hated (the Bible) and was amazed. Questions I had never asked anyone were answered. Nothing spoke to me the same as the words in this book. The Bible was powerful – *nothing* like I had been told or thought.
I started doing what the Bible said and slowly life changing things started to happen. Amazing, irrefutable things started to prove to me the words of this book were much more: they were Spirit & Life! It’s message:
There really is a God who created everything – and He really loves & cares… for you. Individually.
He is nothing like you think He is – especially if you have been wronged by religious people! (Believe me, I know: I spent my youngest years without a father in a cult – I *hated* ‘god’ / religion…big time!)
But the Creator is actually filled with love, compassion and grace. Sure, He has set laws for us to follow, but they are *good* for us and society. He tells us to love Him and love others: to respect our parents, not to lie, not to steal, not to commit adultery (or look with lust) or hate people (He classes this the same as murder!). Imagine how good society would be if everyone did this!
But we have ignored Him and broken His laws repeatedly, sinning against Him (and doing wrong to others). This means we deserve judgment – our wages is death & hell forever…separation from Him in torment.
But He doesn’t want that to happen – He loves you so much, that He sent His Son (Jesus) to die in your place, to pay your fine. We broke God’s law, Jesus paid the fine!!
Wow. It’s not about religion or getting money off you or stopping you have fun. It is about God paying your debt, purchasing a place for you in Heaven for eternity.
You can ignore it, keep struggling in your mediocre life and pay the fine yourself in hell if you like – but why not just see if I’m telling the truth. What do you have to loose?
