At my wife’s prompting I just rang someone who struggles with grief around this time of the year.
It was amazing to hear how my call cheered him up but also quite sad just how lonely some people are. This man has made two attempts on his own life in the last two years. Despite the incredible valleys this man has endured, God is leading him & I believe that this next year will see dramatic changes in His life despite grief.
Pease pray for Sid (not his real name), but more than that, think & pray about who God wants you to contact this Christmas. He can use you to be a part of someones recovery or even their rebirth!
This man is incredibly tough yet a few minutes on the phone and he let me pray for him. He was genuinely thankful which is a huge deal for this man – he used to hate the mention of God – his voice changed, his mood shifted, talk of his situation and the future changed.
Not because I have special words or training, but because God prompted us to reach out, prompted us to give him time, prompted us to help (and provided so we could), prompted my wife, prompted others to reach out to him in a different part of the country, prompted… well you get the idea.
The one thing we could do? Be obedient.
The Bible says that God uses *everything* we do for Jesus. Everything.
A call, a text, a visit, a present, a tract, a gift – do it!
Lord, help us to be mindful of Your leading and obedient to Your call. Please use us to display Your love to those around us who are hurting or need healing.
